60 Second Movie Review: Prisoners (2013)

Just watched Prisoners. It’s a 2013 film starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It’s about how far a father goes to in order to retrieve information about the whereabouts of his 6 year old daughter’s sudden disappearance with her friend on Thanksgiving Day. Lines are crossed and it shows the worst side of a family man in an unfathomable, living nightmare–not only for the victim and his family, but also the victim’s victims. After completion, I don’t think any amount of therapy can erase what had unfolded. There were difficult scenes to watch and no doubt Prisoners is very violent. The acting is very good, especially Jackman’s. I think Wolverine fans will be drawn in in his strong performance. The title itself is ironic and twisted at the end of the movie. Clever, disturbing, and in all honesty I didn’t find any redeeming factor except to keep your little ones supervised.
